NEC Storage VolumeProtect prevents data corruption due to unauthorized change of the data or miss-operation by setting access rights and data retaining period for each volume and realizes long term preservation of data in a tamper proof format.
NEC Storage VolumeProtect is a product to prevent data corruption due to unauthorized change of the data or miss-operation by setting access rights and data retaining period for each volume and realize long term preservation of data in a tamper proof format. Due to a legal regulation that obligates an enterprise to retain business documents, e-mails, etc. for a certain period in a tamper proof format, the significance of data protection is increasing. And the tamper proof function of the product provides basic function to support operation management depending on data type such as appropriate data preservation, access control, etc. Operation of the tamper proof function is performed through a client GUI of NEC Storage Manager. Operation through command line interface (CLI) and automation of protection operation in cooperation with business tasks is also possible.

Provides tamper proof function of data such as setting and unsetting of volume protection, etc.
 Setting of volume protection
Sets protected access rights, retaining period for a volume and inhibits write operation from a server for a certain period. Protected access rights can be set to read enable or read/write disable.
 Changing of volume protection
Changes protected access rights, retaining period set for a volume.
 Unsetting of volume protection
Unsets volume protection. Data can be erased upon unsetting to maintain confidentiality of data stored in a volume.
 Display volume protection information
Displays volume protection status related to the tamper proof function of data. Protected access rights and retaining period are displayed.
